WUST Enters Partnership with NIMS University in India for Academic Collaboration

In a significant stride towards fostering academic excellence, Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST) has forged a partnership with NIMS University, a prestigious private educational institution in India. This collaboration aims to facilitate the exchange of academic expertise between the two institutions. Under the terms of the agreement, NIMS University will adopt WUST's course curriculum, enabling students at the Indian university to pursue their higher education aspirations by seamlessly transferring credits to WUST. Additionally, faculty members from both universities will have the opportunity to engage in teaching assignments at each other's campuses. The formal agreement was inked on Thursday, April 11, at the WUST campus located in Alexandria, Virginia. It was signed by WUST Chairman and Chancellor Engineer Abubokor Hanip, and Nimes University Chancellor Professor Dr. Balveer S. Tomar." "The contract entails the promotion of high-quality education, research development, and cooperative endeavors, along with various educational exchange activities between the two universities. Additionally, faculty members from both institutions will engage in sharing their experiences and exploring diverse opportunities together. Previously, a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two universities on December 4 of the preceding year. Subsequently, NIMS University Chancellor, Professor Dr. Balveer S. Tomar, embarked on a visit to the WUST campus during his stay in the United States. Impressed by the overall progress of the university and its newly established campus in Alexandria, Virginia, Dr. Tomar, the esteemed founder of one of India's premier educational institutions, expressed his admiration. During this visit, Dr. Balbir S. Tomar commended the leadership of WUST Chancellor Engineer Abubokor Hanip, highlighting his remarkable stewardship. Furthermore, he lauded Dr. Hasan Karabark, the President of WUST, for his exceptional administrative prowess in university management." Dr. Balveer expressed his confidence, stating, "I strongly believe that WUST will ascend to a prominent position in the rankings of US universities in the near future." He added, "It's only a matter of time before NIMS University students realize their aspirations of higher education in the US through studying at WUST." Accompanying Prof. Balveer during the visit, Professor Dr. Nipak Nathia highlighted the various recent achievements of NIMS University. In a presentation to WUST professors and officials, Dr. Nathia remarked, "The notable increase in WUST's student body over the past three years is quite exceptional. I am optimistic that as NIMS and WUST collaborate further, many more achievements will be accomplished." Expressing gratitude, WUST Chairman and Chancellor Engineer Abubokor Hanip emphasized the significance of university accreditations, noting, "One of the pivotal aspects of a university is its accreditations and recently, relevant authorities granted accreditation to WUST for the next four years, enabling us to embark on new endeavors." WUST graduation ceremony held in US with Bill Clinton's greetings

Virginia, USA - The graduation ceremony of Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST), the only American university under the management of Bangladeshi entrepreneur Eng. Abubokor Hanip, took place on June 17 at the esteemed Virginia George C. Marshall High School.The event was celebrated with great enthusiasm as 76 students from various countries graduated from the university. Notably, former US President Bill Clinton sent a special message to the graduates, emphasizing their responsibility in shaping the future. Bob J. Nash, a former administrative officer of the Clinton administration, delivered the message from President Clinton to the graduates. In his letter, Clinton urged the students to embrace their role as leaders in guiding the ever-changing world toward the right path. The students were deeply inspired by the message and were grateful for the recognition and encouragement from the former president. The graduation ceremony was graced by the presence of former US Representative Jim Moran, who served as the chief guest and delivered the keynote address. Additionally, Virginia's state senator, Chap Petersen, attended as the guest speaker, further enhancing the significance of the event. The ceremony commenced at 2:00 PM, as the graduates, adorned in their gowns and hats, paraded into the venue and took their designated seats. WUST signs MoUs with Mongolian University and District Council

Washington University of Science and Technology- WUST has signed two Memorandum of Understanding-MoUs on Tuesday with Mongolia's Global Leadership University-GLU and Ulaanbaatar City's Sukhbaatar District.WUST Chairman and CEO Abubokor Hanip signed both the documents on behalf of WUST while GLU Founder and President Mr. Otganbat Barkhu and Sukhbatar District Chairman Nkhobold Bukhchulun signed on behalf of their own institutions.Mr. Barkhu and Mr. Bukhchulun were leading a 16-member delegation from Mongolia.When the delegation reached the campus in the morning, they were welcomed by Dr. Hasan Karabruk, president of Washington University of Science and Technology. Chancellor Engineer Abubokor Hanip welcomed and spoke to the leaders of the delegation in his room.Later, all gathered in the conference room where the university professor Dr. Mark Robinson gave a presentation on leadership to the members of the delegation.He discussed the qualities of successful leadership and other aspects of social and educational demographics.Jose Ortega, marketing director of the university, gave a presentation highlighting the education and scholarship programs of the university.Later, WUST Chancellor Abubokor Hanip in his speech expressed his hope to take the cooperation to a new level. He highlighted how WUST is bringing industry knowledge in the classroom settings and preparing its students ready for the present world of work.Dr. Hasan Karburk highlighted the goals and modality of teaching of WUST and said that such a university is expected for any student.President of GLU Mr. Otganbat Barkhu and Sukhbatar District Chairman Nkhobold Bukhchulun thanked the university authorities for their hospitality. Number of Bangladeshi Students in the United States Reaches All-Time High 

More than 10,500 Bangladeshi students attended higher education institutions in the United States during the 2021-2022 academic year, moving Bangladesh up to 13th from 14th place during the previous academic year.  In celebration of International Education Week (IEW) on November 14-18, the U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce 10,597 Bangladeshi students chose to study in the United States during the 2021-2022 academic year, according to the 2022 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange.  During the 2021-2022 academic year, Bangladesh advanced from 14th to 13th place in the list of countries sending international students to the United States.  Over the past decade, the number of Bangladeshi students in the United States has more than tripled, increasing from 3,314 during the 2011-2012 academic year to 10,597 during the 2021-2022 academic year.  Shortly after independence, Bangladesh sent 480 students to the United States during the 1974-1975 academic year.   “The United States welcomes Bangladeshi students. From engaging in groundbreaking research to enriching campus life through cultural programs, Bangladeshi students continue to leave their mark across the United States. Bank of Mongolia's Governor visits Washington University of Science and Technology

Students of Washington University of Science and Technology have come from many countries of the world to study here. So far, students from 121 countries have studied at this university. Some of them are students from Mongolia.LKhagvasuren Byadran, governor of the Bank of Mongolia, the East Asian country, recently visited the United States. He was attending the Annual General Meeting of the World Bank here. During this time, he came to the campus of Washington University of Science and Technology, a university where a good number of Mongolian students are enrolled. The Governor of The Bank of Mongolia exchanged views with the University's Chancellor and Board Chairman Engineer Abubokor Hanip, The University's President Dr Hasan Karaburk and the director of school of business, Professor Mark Robinson. Bayardavaa Bayarsaikhan, Director General of Monetary Policy affairs of the bank and Munkhabayar Tsedevsuren, member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the bank, accompanied the Governor. During the meeting, they inquired about the education of Mongolian students. And discussed how to cooperate on behalf of the country for the students. Abubokor Hanip told the Mongolian delegation that the best students from Mongolia are already getting scholarships based on their results. Besides, skill-based education is being ensured so that they can enter the work directly after completing their education. President Dr. Hasan Karaburk said the university has students from diversified culture. It needs to be further enhanced. "We want more students from Mongolia to come here because this university is affordable," said Hassan Karaburk. The Governor of the Bank of Mongolia thanked the authorities of The Washington University of Science and Technology. And in the future more students will come here from Mongolia to study, he hoped.

WUST Convocation 2022 held in Virginia, USA

Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST) convocation 2022 held on Saturday (June 18) at George C. Marshall High School auditorium in Virginia, USA. More than 500 students of this university in Virginia, USA were awarded their graduation certificates on this day.Wearing a graduation black gown and black cap with tassel, the students became the main attraction of the ceremony, taking their certificates, filling the day with joy and excitement. The chief guest was Jeffrey C. McCay, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of The Fairfax County, Virginia. Instead of limiting the program to the distribution of certificates, the university authorities organized a special seminar. Dr. Ryan Saadi, a Bangladeshi-American medical researcher gave an instructional address to students as a keynote speaker. Discovering the successful treatment of cancer is one of his major successes in medical research. In his speech Dr Rayan Saadi narrated the success story of his life to the students and encouraged them to lead the way forward in the future. The chancellor of the university, Engineer Abubokor Hanip, president Dr. Hasan Karaburk, distributed certificates to the students as well as highlighted the future course of action of the university in their speeches. Guests of the event included few other Bangladeshi-Americans who are highly placed in their respective fields the United States. All of them gave directional speeches to the students in this graduation-convocation. Among them was Senator Sheikh Rahman, a successful Bangladeshi-American Democrat in mainstream U.S. politics, M. Osman Siddique, a successful diplomat and the first Muslim Bangladeshi-American ambassador of the United States, Dr. Saifur Rahman, a successful figure in education and research and present President of IEEE, Dr. Golam M. Mathbor, professor at Monmouth University and Co-Chair and Commissioner of the Global Social Work Education Commission, Aziz Ahmad, a successful innovator and entrepreneur of information technology, Chairman and CEO of UTC Associates, CodersTrust, and Probity Care, Siddique Sheikh, a member of the WUST advisory council, and Farhana Hanip, Chief Financial Officer of WUST spoke on the occasion. University’s vice-presidents, Dr. Zafer Pirim and Dr. Shan Cho along with other faculty members took part in the convocation. Dr. Mark L. The chief guest of the event is Jeffrey C. McKay said that multi-ethnic union is one of America's strengths. The Washington University of Science and Technology is an example of the policy pursued by the United States of America to establish an inclusive, equitable society. Its students are coming to this country from different countries of the world and taking their higher education, especially the education of information technology, which is most needed for this time, he said in the speech. Jeffrey said that there are 9,000 technology companies in Virginia, that these students will be able to finish their studies and join these companies as skilled manpower, it really deserves to be appreciated. Keynote Speaker Dr. Ryan Saadi begins with the story of his personal life and tells the students that every cherished dream comes true. He talked about using every moment of life with utmost importance and called upon everyone to be strong in the power of humanity. Noting that there is immense potential among the students. He asked every student to be self-confident and to have a pure mind. What is most needed is to know yourself, if everyone gets to know him or herself, if s/he knows her or his skills and abilities, then anything can be achieved by self-dedication and compassion, said Dr. Ryan Saadi. Engr. Abubokor Hanip, an Educationist, IT Faculty and a serial Entrepreneur and the Chancellor of Washington University of Science and Technology delivered a guiding address to the students. “Your experience is powerful. You know that nothing is promised and there is always uncertainty. And you know you have the strength and determination to go on to succeed. Therefore, there is much added joy for us all in celebrating your success today,” said Abubokor Hanip. “Your university education has built a solid foundation for you to succeed. You now have the potential to achieve what is necessary to meet the challenges of the future,” he added. Dr. Hasan Karaburk said that the most important thing is the experience that students get from a university along with education. There is no alternative to experience. Addressing the students, he said, "You will share the education and experience you have gained from this university with others. Which will make them energetic to take similar initiatives. During this time, the students were officially declared as graduate degree holders by Dr. Hasan Karaburk. Senator Sheikh Rahman greeted the graduates of the Washington University of Science and Technology and the authorities through a video message for not being able to attend in person. M. Osman Siddique gives the students the impetus to be determined and courageous. And he said, in the course of life, do what is cherished in your heart. Dr. Saifur Rahman said that just as it is important what the country can do for you, it is also important what you can do for the country. You have to make sure that you can help someone before you expect help. Speaking as a representative of the students, Josephine Mili Chung, who completed her Masters in Cyber Security said, "Having a full-time job, raising children, I was able to complete this degree because of the teaching methods of the university and their utmost care and importance to the students. After completing an online cybersecurity course, Mili Chung is now working in the field. Later, one by one, the students were given their graduation degree certificates. And finally, the students enjoyed the photo session and had fun with it. Later in the day, guests attended the convocation dinner in the evening. At the dinner, held at a local hotel, the guests congratulated Abubokor Hanip for running the first full-fledged university in the United States as a Bangladeshi American. Among the speakers were Rokeya Haider, former head of the Bengali department of Voice of America, Sarkar Kabiruddin, another year-old journalist of Voice of America, Abdul Alim, CEO of AABGM, Prof. Dr. Badrul Khan, expert in e-learning, Indian journalist Raghubir Goyal and others. The speakers described this initiative of Abubokor Hanip as an act of moving mountains. They encouraged chancellor Hanip and praised his vision and mission. The graduation convocation 2022 of Washington University of Science and Technology-WUST in Virginia, USA will be held on Saturday, June 18. All the graduates will receive their certificates from the Washington University of Science and Technology-WUST. Founded in 2008 the university is currently managed and led by a successful Bangladeshi entrepreneur in the United States Engineer Abubokor Hanip. It is the first full-fledged university in the United States being run by a Bangladeshi American. At present more than 600 students are studying in Information Technology, Cyber Security at Masters and Bachelor level and MBA-BBA courses. Students from 121 countries around the world have either graduated from this university or are currently studying.

Bangladesh's Hi-Tech Park sees potential partnership with WUST for a changed teaching method

Bangladesh's Hi-Tech Park sees great potential to go for partnership with the ‘Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST)’ in the USA. Technology-based knowledge transfer is the most necessary and useful step of this time, which can happen between Hi-Tech Park and WUST. There will be a big announcement of such a partnership very soon. This was stated by the Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, Bikarna Kumar Ghosh. He was visiting the WUST (formerly IGlobal University) campus in Virginia on Wednesday (May 11) and interacting with its authorities.  The Chancellor of the University, Bangladeshi American IT entrepreneur Engr. Abubokor Hanip, the President of the University Dr. Hasan Karaburk, Director Prof. Dr. Mark Robinson, CFO Ms. Farhana Hanip were present on the occasion. The Exchange of Views was also attended by Mr. Humayun Kabir, Managing Director of RTV and Romania Food and Beverage (Bengal Group) from Bangladesh, RTV CEO Syed Ashiq Rahman, Bangladeshi businessman in the US, CEO of Cricketpoint Kazi Zaman, Minister Economics, Bangladesh Embassy in Washington D.C Mr. Mehedi Hasan among others.In his speech, Bikarna Ghosh also said, "A Bangladeshi American running a full-fledged university in the United States on his own, it is a matter of great pride for our country. We want more such Abubokor Hanips in Bangladesh and that is why we need mutual co-operations." Pointing out that the university's skill-based education system which is working to create an ecosystem between industry and academia, Bikarna Ghosh said that this is the area that needs to get the highest importance in the field of education now. In Bangladesh too, emphasis is being given to such practice-based education more and more.He said the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority wants to urge the Washington University of Science and Technology- WUST to take this education system to Bangladesh as well and for that they are ready to give the necessary land to establish the campus of this university in Bangladesh. University Chancellor Abubokor Hanip welcomed the proposal, saying such an opportunity would be a big find for WUST. He said those coming to study in the university are prepared with education and skills suitable for the future. So that after completing the education, they can enter the advanced job market in the United States and across the world. His big dream for the students graduating from this university is that some of them will one day hold the highest-level positions in Fortune One Hundred companies like Amazon, Google, Cisco, Facebook, Twitter and so on."The faculty members at the Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST) are both scholars and professional practitioners with four to thirty years of job experience in the relevant fields. There is no need to look back when students enter the world of work by learning from these professors."  At some point we will be able to make this announcement, when we can say that if someone finishes his or her studies at WUST, the student will get a good job for sure, then we will be able to announce 'No Job No Tuition', said a confident Abubokor Hanip. Dr. Hassan Karaburk, President of the University, highlighted the university's education system and its commitment to its students and various aspects of the student-teacher relationship. He said the education system of WUST, formerly IGU, is unique and necessary for every student of this time. "This is a vibrant university. It is career oriented and we teach students and give them the right knowledge and skill set through our partner sister institution PeopleNTech and prepare them for meaningful employment," Dr. Burk added.Prof. Dr. Mark Robinson highlighted various aspects of the educational system and said that by identifying the needs of the students, teachers teach and prepare them. We pay special attention to the students, we know them by their names and we can give them need based education, he added.  Md. Humayun Kabir in his speech praised the curriculum of WUST, its management system and teaching method. He also mentioned in his speech that the university is being run under the leadership of a Bangladeshi American which makes him proud. Kazi Zaman, a prominent businessman from Virginia, said the same thing. "This university is a matter of pride for every Bangladeshi living in the USA" and he appreciated the unique effort of the university which enables fresh graduates to start their career at mid-level.Mr. Mehedi Hasan, Minister Economics, the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington D.C in his speech lauded Mr. Abubokor Hanip for such an initiative and said that the endeavor has made him proud.Farhana Hanip thanked everyone in her speech and sought everyone's cooperation in running the university.  Mahmood Menon, an adjunct faculty of Dhaka University and a journalist who is currently pursuing his further education in this university, spoke on the occasion. He said the university's educational system is so different that the students here can learn with joy. University Professors teach here with industry skills, which is why this method is much more effective. He also said that there is a need for widespread introduction of this education system in Bangladesh.

IGU is now WUST
