Faisal Chowdhury MBE MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament and Shadow Minister for Culture, recently paid a courtesy visit to Washington University of Science and Technology (WEST) in the USA. He mentioned it as as an exemplary educational institution for our times. 

On Friday, August 30, Mr. Chowdhury visited the University campus in Alexandria, where he was welcomed by its Chancellor Engineer Abubokor Hanip and others.

He met president Dr. Hasan Karaburk and other senior officials, who emphasized the critical role of WUST in guiding future generations through education. 

Foysol Chowdhuri expressed pride in the fact that the university is owned and managed by a Bangladeshi American. He mentioned about the potential for establishing a partnership between the university and the Scottish Parliament, and promised to initiate the necessary steps for this collaboration.

Chancellor Abubokor Hanip shared his vision for advancing the university in alignment with contemporary needs, the triple missions degree, skill and career. 

Dr. Hasan Karaburk highlighted the university’s student-friendly environment and quality education. 

Farhana Hanip, the university's CFO, mentioned how the institution beside education fosters a familial atmosphere for students. 

Additional insights were shared by the University’s School of IT Professor Tauhid Bhuiyan, Chief of Staff Rachel Rose, and IT Lab Coordinator Mahmood Menon khan.

Following the discussions, Chancellor Abubokor Hanip and Dr. Hasan Karaburk gave the guest a tour of the university’s various departments and presented him with gifts.
